International Literacy Day is September 8
This day allows community members and organizations the opportunity to "Sign on for Literacy".
The cost is $10 per person or organization, and each person or organization that "Signs on" will get their name in the paper in a specially designed ad.
Newspapers in Education (NIE) would like to invite schools, teachers, organizations and community members to donate ink cartridges to help earn funds to support our program in Central Texas schools.
Help provide newspapers and educational tools to area classrooms by dropping off your used printer cartridges to the Killeen Daily Herald location at 1809 Florence Road, Killeen, or our Copperas Cove location in the Cove Terrace Shopping Center. Schools may also provide ink cartridge drop off locations, so check with your students' school to see if they are participating in our ink cartridge recycling drive.
Accepted cartridges include the following: HP, Lexmark, Dell, Canon and Sharp

What better way to support Newspapers in Education than by shopping at our Spring and Fall Book Drives? All proceeds from our book sales help us to provide newspapers to local area classrooms free-of-charge for all teachers!
Prices range from $.25-$7.00 with a huge selection of novels, classics, childrens books, how-to books, self-help books, and more!
ONLY $1.00 Per Week ($52.00 Per Year)
Retailers may sign up to support this program. For only $52.00 Per year retailers can show their support for literacy and Newspapers in Education. In return for their support, Retailers receive their logo in two Thank You ads in the Killeen Daily Herald.
