"Our students use the Killeen Daily Herald weekly. Thus far we have used them for:
Cutting out parts of speech to make their own complete detailed sentences; Newspaper Scavenger Hunt; Using the ads for automobile sales for teaching: mode, median, mean, and range. Current Events. Thank you so very much for the donation of these newspapers, they are of great use towards the learning of our students."
Angela Gower, Florence Elementary, 5th grade
"I am happy to write words of appreciation for the wonderful newspapers that you all provide for me. I use them all day long in my classes. I start by using them to teach the parts of the paper with in my Journalism classes. I use them to teach the forms of news writing and I have the students keep a scrapbook of each term with an example of each one. This is so helpful in having them learn the terminology. What better examples than using a real newspaper? Next, my Social Studies class keeps up with current events weekly by using the articles written for their assigned parts of the world. My art classes use them to put under their art projects, and at times, we make paper Mache items. Nothing much left over when my kids have finished with them. If any do survive, they go to the recycle bin. Thank you so much for helping me to be a better teacher. I appreciate your program so much because I have very limited funds. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
